FAQs

[accordion] [acc title=”What kind of images do you use? Why?”]

We use stick figures to illustrate yoga poses. We find that they are

  • easier to understand (for you and your students)
  • easier to draw (for your custom poses)
  • easier to print (they take less space and less ink then other images)
[/acc] [acc title=”Will I be able to create flow sequences? “]Yes you will, any viniyasas you like.[/acc] [acc title=”Is there a limit on how many poses I can combine into one sequence?”]No, you can combine as many poses into a sequence as you like.[/acc] [acc title=”Why are there so many variations of each pose?”]Each variation of the pose (called Adaptation) can be used for a specific situation and specific purpose. Please refer to our article on Adaptation for more detailed information on the subject.[/acc] [acc title=”Do you include instructions on how to perform each pose?”]

We do NOT include instructions on how to perform poses for the following reasons:

  • Pose execution varies from tradition to tradition
  • You might choose to emphasize a certain aspect of the pose and provide appropriate instructions
  • In certain cases instructions are not needed (for experienced students or when you use Sequence Wiz for record keeping)

If you choose to add your own instructions, you are welcome to customize the Pose Properties.

[/acc] [acc title=”Can I add my own notes to the sequence?”]Yes, of course.[/acc] [acc title=”You don’t have the pose variation I want in your database – can I add my own?”]Yes, you are welcome to create custom poses and pose variations – please see instructional video Managing Poses, it will guide you through the process.[/acc] [acc title=”Did you include poses for specific populations (like chair yoga)?”]We do have some pose adaptations that utilize various props, including chair. However, when it comes to pose variations, the possibilities are endless. Therefore, please use the Custom Pose tool to add your favorite poses, if they are not included.[/acc] [acc title=”Do you have practice templates or do I need to start from scratch?”]Yes, we do have sample sequences that you can copy and modify to your liking. They are stored in Shared Sequences. We will continue to add sample practices for you to explore.
Once you start creating your own practices, you will be able to use those as templates, as well. Another important feature of Sequence Wiz is Combos feature. It enables you to save poses and vinyasas that you use frequently (for example, Child’s pose or Sun Salutation Series) and make them easily accessible. Please refer to the instructional video Designing a Yoga Practice for more information on the subject.
[/acc] [acc title=”Which yoga tradition do you follow?”]The art of sequencing has been developed extensively by T.K.V. Desikachar and Gary Kraftsow and traces back to Sri Krishnamacharya. We follow Krishnamacharya tradition and more specifically viniyoga, which offers comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the art and science of sequencing.[/acc] [acc title=”What if I practice a different style of yoga?”]It doesn’t matter what style of yoga you practice, you can still use Sequence Wiz. Many of sequencing principles that we discuss are universal and you can select or add the poses that you are accustomed to.[/acc] [acc title=”Can I see sequences designed by other members?”]

No, you cannot see the sequences designed by other members for the following reasons:

  • We respect other people’s property rights
  • Sequence Wiz is intended to serve an educational purpose, therefore simply copying other teacher’s work is not encouraged
  • Sometimes the sequences that users design do not follow basic sequencing rules and therefore can potentially be damaging to yoga students. We do not want you to copy other people’s mistakes.
